Born to Dr Ashok Chopra and Madhu Chopra in Jamshedpur, Priyanka Chopra Jonas had dreams of conquering the globe, one day at a time. Her first step to success was winning the title of Miss World in 2000. She stepped into Bollywood and gradually progressed towards fulfilling her aim of global domination at a young age. 21 years after being crowned as Miss World, Priyanka is an actress, entrepreneur, producer, singer and what not. Priyanka is successfully managing her career in Bollywood as well as Hollywood.
As Priyanka continues to make India proud, the actress spoke to a magazine. She is the cover star of the magazine's September edition. Talking to the magazine about her resilience, drive, thirst for excellence and desire to represent her country, Priyanka told that she always saw herself as India's ambassador and wants to continue doing so. "I’ve always felt like I’m an ambassador for India. It’s something I’ll continue doing as long as I can," Priyanka said.
Speaking of her career in Bollywood and Hollywood, Priyanka shared that though she has made a name for herself in India with her work in Hindi cinema, she is yet to replicate the same in America. "I’ve built a solid career in Hindi movies but I haven’t done that yet in America. In India, I’ve been able to play a variety of roles and work with almost everyone in the film business that I wanted to. I want to see if I can have a career like that here as well," Priyanka told.
Fans are in awe of Priyanka's smooth journey from India to America, but the actress had her own share of struggles and she never allowed them to bog her down. "It was so hard to have people take me seriously as a mainstream actor when I first came to America. I’ve seen a big change since then. There are more lead characters that are South Asian. With streaming, entertainment has become much more global," the star shared.
Apart from being an actress, Priyanka is a producer and runs her own banner, Purple Pebble Pictures. Under her banner, the actress aims to tell stories about South Asians or women. She stated, "We’re developing a bunch of stories based on true stories and a couple of comedies. We’re predominantly telling South Asian or female stories. I’m all about creating franchises around female actors—and that’s not necessarily just me."
Priyanka added that she loves to take risks in her career. "I don’t have everything figured out. I take risks and I enjoy them. I’m constantly spinning 25 plates in the air. That’s not ‘figured out’, it’s playing roulette," she told.
The Quantico actress, who tied the knot with singer Nick Jonas in 2018, now wants to dedicate the next decade to balancing her family and professional life. Talking about their new home, Priyanka told the magazine, "We moved into our new house, had time to pick cushions and decide what our rug was going to be like, and adopted a dog, Panda. We always have family or friends over. That’s the kind of home I was raised in and that’s how Nick is as well."
