Since March 2020, not many films have released in theatres. The reason being the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The virus had an adverse effect on the entertainment industry and many filmmakers incurred heavy losses. Amid this, we saw a surge in demand for content on the web or better known as OTT. Various platforms teamed up with producers and took up the responsibility to keep the audience entertained by exclusively premiering big-budget films globally.
However, Dr. Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios won't be releasing any of his films on OTT. In a statement, the production house clarified that their upcoming projects- Gangubai Kathiawadi, RRR and Attack- are meant to be watched on the big screen and they will be releasing only in theatres. The statement read, "We would like to clarify that ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi, ‘RRR’ & ‘Attack’ will release in cinemas. There have been several rumours doing rounds about these films releasing on OTT platforms before cinemas which are untrue. These magnum opus films are made for the big screen experience and would be releasing in theatres."
