Kareena Kapoor Khan reacts to being trolled for reportedly asking for Rs 12 Cr. to play the role of Sita, says 'it’s about being respectful towards women'

Kareena Kapoor Khan says that female artists voicing for equal pay in the film industry should be normalized as pay parity signifies respect for women. Kareena, in an interview with the Guardian, said she is happy that more female actors have begun raising the unfortunate gender pay disparity in Bollywood. The actor also said that she is aware of her worth and has no qualms in putting it across during negotiations.

In June, the actress was massively trolled after reports of her demanding Rs. 12 crores to play the role of Sita went viral. it was said that the actress was offered Alaukik Desai's film, titled Sita and that she asked for Rs. 12 crores to play the role. Talking about the same, the actress has now said, "I make it quite clear what I want and I think that respect should be given. It’s not about being demanding, it’s about being respectful towards women. And I think things are kind of changing."

She also added, "Just a few years ago, no one would talk about a man or woman actually getting equal pay in a movie. Now there are a lot of us being very vocal about it.”

Reportedly, Alaukik's Sita might star Ranveer Singh as Raavan. However, there is no official confirmation as of now.
