Amid reports of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Deepika Padukone being approached for Alaikik Desai's film based on Sita, Kangana Ranaut announced that she will be seen playing the role of goddess Sita in the upcoming mythological film The Incarnation - Sita.
However, now lyricist and screenplay writer for the upcoming film The Incarnation - Sita, Manoj Muntashir, has clarified that Kareena and Deepika were not approached for the titular role. In an interview with a leading news portal, Manoj said, "Rumours were floating around about actresses like Kareena [Kapoor Khan] and Deepika [Padukone] being approached for the project, but they were not true...We never approached other actresses. The search for a young actress to play the title role was on, as it is about Sita in her young days."
Rumours of Kareena playing the role of Sita went viral when reports suggested that the actress demanded Rs. 12 crores to play the role. This did not go down well with a certain section on the internet. However, later Kareena clarified saying, "it's not about being demanding, it's about being respected." On the other hand, Deepika was said to play Sita's role in not one but two films - Alaikik's Sita and Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayan.
The film will be directed by Alaukik Desai and will reportedly be released in five languages -- Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
