The income tax department conducted search operations at actor-philanthropist Sonu Sood's properties last week for reportedly three days in a row. In a statement, they claimed that he evaded taxes of over 20 crores. The I-T department reportedly searched around half a dozen premises linked to Sonu, including offices and other properties in Mumbai and certain locations in Lucknow. Now, days after the search operations, Sonu has returned to social media and resumed relief work.
The actor-philanthropist shared a statement on social media and said, "You don't always have to tell your side of the story. Time will." He further added, "I have pledged myself to the service of the people of India with all the strength and heart. Every rupee in my foundation is awaiting its turn to save a precious life and reach the needy. In addition, on many occasions, I have encouraged brands to donate my endorsement fees for humanitarian causes too, which keeps us going."
Sonu hinted at the I-T department's search operations in his statement and wrote, "I have been busy attending to a few guests hence was unable to be at your service, for the last 4 days." He shared, "Here I am back again in all humility. At your humble service, for life."
Mentioning the I-T search operations, he wrote, "'Kar' bhala, ho bhala, ant bhale ka bhala." He added, "My journey continues..."
Sonu, a popular actor in Bollywood and South, became a real-life Messiah during the first COVID-19 lockdown. He played a key role in helping migrants reach their hometowns safely and also extending support to those who were in need. Now, right from education to medical help, Sonu is every needy person's go-to man.
