Due to the COVID-19 second wave, many production houses had to postpone the release of their upcoming films. After locking its slate for 2021, the second lockdown forced the top authorities at Yash Raj Films to scrap the plan and wait for the situation to normalise. Now, a day after the Chief Minister of Maharashtra - Uddhav Thackeray, declared that theatres in the state will reopen on October 22, YRF decided to announce the theatrical release dates of 4 upcoming films.
Today, YRF confirmed that Prithviraj, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Bunty Aur Babli 2 and Shamshera will be opening in theatres in 2021 and 2022. Bunty Aur Babli 2 starring Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh will be releasing on November 19 this year. The film is directed by Varun V. Sharma.

On January 21, 2022, YRF will tell the story of Prithviraj Chauhan in the film titled Prithviraj. It stars Akshay Kumar in the titular role and marks the Bollywood debut of Manushi Chhillar. The film is directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi.
A month later, Ranveer Singh will be arriving on the big screen with Shalini Pandey in Divyang Thakkar's Hindi directorial debut Jayeshbhai Jordaar. The film will release in theatres on February 25, 2022.

A few weeks after that, Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor's dacoit drama Shamshera will be releasing. Directed by Karan Malhotra, the film will release on March 18 next year.
