After the decision of reopening theatres in Maharashtra was announced, Bollywood filmmakers raced ahead to lock the release dates of their films. The release dates of over 15 films were announced on Sunday. Producers, who chose to hold back their films for theatrical releases, stepped forward and booked their respective slots for 2021-2022. Theatres will reopen on October 22.
Joining the bandwagon were the makers of Satyameva Jayate 2. Starring John Abraham and Divya Khosla Kumar in the lead, the film is directed by Milap Zaveri. Satyameva Jayate 2, after many delays, will be releasing on November 26, 2021. Announcing the release date, T-Series shared a poster of the film and wrote, "“Do Takke Ki Jaan lene 56 inch ka JIGARAA nahi, 56 inch ka HATHODA chaahiye!” #SatyamevaJayate2 releasing on 26th November 2021."
T-Series announced the release date of their film Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. Starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor, the film is directed by Abhishek Kapoor. It will release on December 10, 2021. Sharing a picture of Ayushmann, Vaani and Abhishek, T-Series wrote on Instagram, "This year is about love, drama and movies. Back to cinemas with #ChandigarhKareAashiqui, releasing on 10th December, 2021."
Apart from this, the release date of Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar's Raksha Bandhan was also announced. Directed by Aanand L Rai, the film will release on August 11, 2022. Raksha Bandhan stars Sadia Khateeb, Deepika Khanna, Smrithi Srikanth and Sahejmeen Kaur as Akshay's sisters.
