We never announced such a title, so saying that the title has been changed is invalid: Shoojit Sircar on Vicky Kaushal's 'Sardar Udham' title change controversy

Amazon Prime Video unveiled the trailer of Sardar Udham this afternoon. Starring National Award winner Vicky Kaushal, the film is the rare and untold story of one of the bravest freedom fighters of India. However, the Shoojit Sircar directorial was earlier said to be titled 'Sardar Udham Singh'. However, when the first official poster was launched last week, the film was announced as 'Sardar Udham'. A controversy on the title change followed.

Today, at the trailer launch event, Shoojit addressed the issue and revealed that the film was never titled 'Sardar Udham Singh' and was always 'Sardar Udham'. Talking about the same, the filmmaker said, "the name of the film was never Sardar Udham Singh. We never announced such title. So yeh baat ki tittle change hua hai is invalid. The film was always titled - Sardar Udham."
