The Hindi film industry has often been criticised for being sexist, glorifying the objectification of women and misogyny. In recent times, people have been vocal about how Bollywood tends to encourage objectionable content that has an adverse impact on the youth of the country. While people have decided not to encourage content that objectifies women, the Mumbai police have taken a step forward to denounce misogyny.
Taking a creative route, the Mumbai Police's social media team shared graphic posters of famous Bollywood dialogues and appealed to the citizens of the city to 'choose words & actions with care'. The post features dialogues from films like Salman Khan's Dabangg, Shahid Kapoor-Kiara Advani's Kabir Singh, Chashme Baddoor, Dil Dhadakne Do, Ujda Chaman and others.
The caption of the post read: "Cinema is a reflection of our society -Here are (just) a few (of many) dialogues both our society & cinema need to reflect upon. Choose your words & actions with care - unless you want the law to intervene!." Hashtags like 'Let's Not Normalise Misogyny,' 'Mind Your Language,' and 'Women Safety' were used.
A user commented, "Should've mentioned Kabir Singh's entire script." Another person applauded Mumbai Police for the post and said, "Much needed. Respect and kuddos to whoever is handling this handle." "Damn @mumbaipolice you have my heart for posting this..," a user commented.
