On June 15, 2021, PeepingMoon exclusively informed its readers that Ayushmann Khurrana is collaborating with Aanand L Rai once again after the success of their social comedy film series, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan. Ayushmann's next with Aanand L Rai is a big-scale action film set in overseas. The film has interestingly been titled 'Action Hero' and will mark Ayushmann's foray into the action genre. Furthermore, Paatal Lok actor Jaideep Ahlawat has been roped in to play the antagonist in this film.
Now, 'hero' Ayushmann has made an official announcement of the film along with an interesting promo. Anirudh Iyer Ganapathy who's directing the film will kick off the shooting sometime in December. Anirudh has been Aanand L Rai's assistant on his films Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015) and Zero (2018) and will be making his directorial debut with this film.
On the work front, Ayushmann has Abhishek Kapoor's Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Anubhav Sinha's political drama Anek & Junglee Pictures' campus-comedy drama Doctor G in his kitty.
