Vicky Kaushal established himself as an incredible performer since the release of his film Masaan in 2015. He left girls in the audience drooling over him for nailing his roles in Raazi, Sanju and Manmarziyaan among others. However, Uri: The Surgical Strike promoted him to a different league of actors. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film based on a covert operation against a group of militants who attacked a base in Uri, Kashmir, in 2016, made Vicky the national hero.
In a recent interview, Vicky revealed that he was going to skip Uri: The Surgical Strike. The actor said he didn't feel connected to the story. However, his father, Sham Kaushal, found the script and encouraged Vicky to give it a read once again. "Uri was something I was gonna skip. In the middle of shooting Raazi, I read the film, maybe I was tired, I went to work the next day not feeling connected to it. My dad found the script & read it. He told me it will be the biggest mistake if I didn't do it. I asked for more time. Read the script again. And got really excited to do it," Vicky told.
