On October 8, PeepingMoon exclusively informed its readers about Sanjay Kapoor-Maheep Kapoor's daughter Shanaya Kapoor's debut. Karan Johar has passed on the directorial baton for Shanaya's launch film to Shashank Khaitan. It is a young franchise film that’s going to be very massively mounted. KJo will also launch Gurfateh Singh Pirzada and Lakshya in this film.
Now, Shanaya has kickstarted the shoot of her first-ever film. Sharing the news on Instagram, father Sanjay shared several photos with his daughter and captioned it as, "#newbeginnings , so proud of you work hard , #focus , this is only the beginning, sky is the limit , #firstdayshoot #excitingtimes , love you "
Sources said that KJo wanted an experienced director to launch Shanaya and asked Khaitan to helm it considering he was also involved with the creative aspects of the film and had successfully launched Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter in 2018 with Dhadak.
The three lead actors and newbies of Bollywood are said to have attended several acting workshops over the last seven months.
