Police complaint against Kangana Ranaut for 'Indira Gandhi crushed Khalistanis like mosquitoes' remark, Akali Dal leader says actress should be put in jail

Another day another political statement by Kangana Ranaut. The actress has been making headlines for her opinions on Indian politics. In her recent Instagram stories, Kangana praised India's former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi and said she crushed 'Khalistani terrorists' "like mosquitoes" under her shoe. This remark came days after India's current Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, announced his decision to repeal the three Farm Laws. The actress was apparently not happy with Mr. Modi's decision.

In one of her Instagram stories, Kangana wrote, "Khalistani terrorists may be arm twisting the government today. But let's not forget one woman. The only woman prime minister ne inn ko apni jooti ke niche crush kia tha. No matter how much suffering she caused to this nation she crushed them like mosquitoes at the cost of her own life Lekin desh ke tukde nahi hone diye even after decades of her death aaj bhi uske naam se kaampte hai yeh inko vaisa he guru chahiye."

The actress shared a picture of Mrs. Gandhi and wrote, "With the rise of Khalistani movement her story is more relevant than ever very soon bringing to you #Emergency" (sic)" For the unversed, Kangana will be playing the role of the former Prime Minister in an upcoming film titled Emergency

Soon after the Instagram stories were uploaded, Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa filed a case against Kangana for her remarks. In a statement, Mr Sirsa said, "Kangana's statement highlights a very cheap mentality. Saying that the three farm laws were repealed because of the Khalistani terrorists is a disrespect to the farmers. She is a factory of hate." He added, "We demand strict action from the government for her hateful content on Instagram. Her security and Padam Shri must be withdrawn immediately. . She should either be put in a mental hospital or in jail."

On November 19, Mr Modi announced his decision to repeal Farm Laws that prompted a year of protests and unrest in Punjab. Kangana reacted to the news and said, "Sad, shameful, absolutely unfair. If people on the streets have started to make laws and not the chosen government in the Parliament, then even this is a jihadi nation. Congratulations to all who wanted it like this."
