Ranveer Singh’s ’83 is one of the highly-awaited films of the year. The sports drama is based on India’s first triumph at the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Ranveer plays the role of former cricketer Kapil Dev who led the team to victory while Deepika Padukone essays the role of Kapil’s wife Romi Dev in the film. The trailer that was launched earlier this week has already got the fans in frenzy and showed glimpses of Deepika’s character as well as the playing XI. Now, Kapil has shared his family’s reaction to the trailer and Deepika’s role in it.
Deepika’s character is shown as supporting Ranveer’s Kapil during moments of crises and turmoil and even through victories. Now, speaking to an online portal, Kapil spoke about his family’s reaction to the actress’s role after watching the trailer. He said that the family has ‘mixed’ reactions. Kapil said, “I think mixed because I don’t know how much the role of my wife is in 83, so one does not realise that what they are trying to do there.”
’83 also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Saqib Saleem, Ammy Virk, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saahil Khattar, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Jiiva, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Adinath Kothare, Harrdy Sandhu, Dhairya Karwa, R Badree, Neena Gupta, Boman Irani and others.
Directed by Kabir Khan, ’83 is scheduled to release in theatres on December 24, 2021.
