After announcing his two production ventures, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta is now gearing up for his own directorial. However, it's not the third installment of his Shootout franchise or the Zinda sequel he was earlier planning with Sanjay Dutt. Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Gupta is next directing a sports film and has signed Sanam Teri Kasam actor Harshvardhan Rane to play the lead role.
"Sanjay Gupta's film with Harshvardhan Rane is a big-budget film based on soccer. It's a complete departure from his previous multi-starrer action films he has widely been known for. Gupta is embarking on a new journey with this fascinating project and has already begun prepping for it. Sunir Kheterpal of Athena Entertainment is producing the film along with Gupta's home banner White Feature Films," a source close to the development informed us.
The yet-untitled film will go on floors in around March 2022 after Rane is done with his out-and-out action film, Ambush which starts production this month. Billed as a fast-paced actioner set against a global financial crisis that challenges the fate of humanity, the Nilesh Sahay directorial sees Rane playing the role of a Special Security Commando who must protect an extremely high-value target against the world’s greatest threats. This film is expected to be wrapped up by February 2022.
Harshvardhan Rane, who was last seen in the critically acclaimed Netflix film, Haseen Dillruba, is set to have a busy 2022 with three films lined up for release. His next is Kushan Nandy's edge-of-the-seat thriller Kun Faya Kun that centers on a family holiday that goes wrong when an unimaginable secret is revealed. It releases in theaters early next year and will be followed by John Abraham's production, Tara Vs Tara — a slice-of-life drama directed by Bobby Jasoos fame Samar Iqbal. His actioner Ambush is also supposed to release sometime later in 2022!
