Vicky Kaushal, who is currently in news for his wedding with Katrina Kaif, has been roped in to play the titular role in Meghna Gulzar-directed Sam Bahadur. The biopic of Sam Manekshaw is yet to go on floors. Now, two prominent young actresses have joined the cast of Sam Bahadur.
Dangal co-stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh are reuniting to play important roles in Sam Bahadur. The former will be seen as Silloo Manekshaw and the latter has signed the role of Indira Gandhi. Fatima and Sanya did a photoshoot with Vicky and Meghna. On Instagram, Vicky welcomed his leading ladies and wrote, "It's a very special day for us as we celebrate our director @meghnagulzar’s birthday and welcome the leading ladies @sanyamalhotra_ as Silloo Manekshaw & @fatimasanashaikh as Smt. Indira Gandhi to the #Sam family!"
Fatima and Sanya, who are best friends too, starred in Dangal and then in Ludo. In the sports biopic, the actress played sisters on-screen whereas, in the Netflix anthology, they didn't share the screen space.
Sam Manekshaw was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal and his military victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war led to the creation of Bangladesh. His biopic will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala.
