Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel will return together to the big screen after 20 years in the sequel to Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, the top-grossing blockbuster that was released in 2001. After kickstarting the shoot on December 1, the team has now wrapped the Palampur schedule of the film.
Director Anil Sharma shared the news on Instagram with a post. “A moment sharing with #Tarasingh #sakeena on the last day of Palampur schedule.. what a great experience reliving again with these iconic characters .. #gadar2 @iamsunnydeol @ameeshapatel9 @iutkarsharma @ZeeStudios_ #anilsharmaproductions (sic).” Anil captioned his post.
Yesterday, Sunny shared his BTS photos from the film and wrote, "Only a fortunate few get to bring amazing characters back to life. Presenting Tara Singh 20 years later! Wrapped the first schedule of #Gadar2. Feeling blessed. #Gadar #TaraSingh."
Gadar 2 also brings together director Anil Sharma and the original distributor Zee Studios. The film features Sharma's son, the actor Utkarsh Sharma, who had appeared in 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' as the child of the characters played by Deol and Patel.
The plot of Gadar 2 has been kept under wraps. The original film was loosely based on the tragic love story between British Indian Army World War II veteran Boota Singh and a young Muslim woman named Zainab against the backdrop of the Partition.
