Taapsee Pannu reveals several actresses rejected 'Haseen Dillruba' before her because of 'who the hero was'

Taapsee Pannu, the next big thing in Bollywood, impressed some and some not with her performance in Vinil Mathew's Haseen Dillruba. While the audience praised the actress for her unique role in the romantic thriller, some critic reviews were not up to the mark for the actress. Well now, Taapsee has revealed that she was not the first choice for the film and a few actresses had rejected the film before it came to her.

In a roundtable interview with Raveena Tandon and Konkona Sen, Taapsee said she was smirking looking at writer Kanika Dhillon for not offering the film to her first She said, “During the whole narration, I was smirkly looking at her, ‘You didn’t come to me with this before'. I was almost manifesting it somewhere that I really want to do this. I was not probably the first, second or third choice for this. It was only when everybody else had said no that it came to me. I was very happy about it, first because I wanted to do it, when I heard it, I didn't understand why would anyone say no to it," said Taapsee.

Raveena then said, “I was just going to ask you, how could anyone say no to that?” Raveena also asked Taapsee to reveal the names of the actors who had turned down the film. Taapsee said that she didn’t have any particulars, but she could tell them ‘the reasons why others probably said no’. She said that they were concerned about the lead character being ‘too grey, not likeable’, or asked questions like, ‘Who’s the hero?’ She added, “I was like, ‘Dude, it’s Haseen Dillruba.’ I don’t care about who the hero is. So, yeah, those were the kind of questions because of which others didn’t work out, and thank God for that.”

Then, Konkona said, “And the hero is such a good actor,” and Taapsee added, “Yeah, Vikrant! I was like, ‘Look at the hero’."
