Sonu Sood’s sister Malvika Sood Sachar has joined Indian National Congress and will contest Punjab State Assembly polls on the party’s ticket. The elections will take place in a single phase on February 14 and the votes will be counted on March 10. Sonu, whose work during the Covid crisis earned him rich praise has said that he supports his sister’s political ambitions.
Congress Punjab unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu also lavished praise on Malvika and described the development as a "game-changer" ahead of the state polls. Malvika joined the party in the presence of state Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Sidhu. Sidhu said, “It is very rare that a party chief and the chief minister both have gone to someone's home to grant the honour, and she deserves it. In the cricketing world, it is called a game-changer. She is a young and educated woman, and her education as software engineer will help her in her life ahead.”
