Siddharth's tweet against badminton champion Saina Nehwal was condemned by netizens and the National Commission for Women Chairperson. The actor criticised Saina for her tweet about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'security breach' in Punjab. Siddharth's sexist tweet didn't sit well with people. Saina, talking to a news portal, slammed the actor for his remark.
In the interview, Saina told, "Ya I’m not sure what he meant. I used to like him as an actor but this was not nice. He can express himself with better words but I guess it’s Twitter and you remain noticed with such words n comments." The badminton champion added, "If the security of the PM of India is an issue then I’m not sure what is secure in the country."
On January 5, Saina tweeted, "No nation can claim itself to be safe if the security of its own PM gets compromised. I condemn, in the strongest words possible, the cowardly attack on PM Modi by anarchists." This came after PM Modi's convoy was stranded on a flyover due to a blockade by protesters in Ferozepur.

Reacting to Saina's tweet, Siddharth wrote, "Subtle cock champion of the world... Thank God we have protectors of India. Shame on you #Rihanna" Due to the outrage on social media, Siddharth tweeted to clarify, ""COCK & BULL" That's the reference. Reading otherwise is unfair and leading! Nothing disrespectful was intended, said or insinuated. Period."
