'Kartik Aaryan threatened to walk out of Shehzada if Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo Hindi released in theatres,' says producer Manish Shah

The Hindi dubbed version of Allu Arjun's Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo was scheduled to release in theatres on January 26. However, on January 21, it was announced that the much-anticipated theatrical release has been cancelled so that it does not affect the business of Kartik Aaryan-Kriti Sanon's Shehzada, which is the official Hindi remake of the Telugu blockbuster. Manish Shah of Goldmine Films, who has the rights to Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo's Hindi-dubbed version, spoke to a news portal about the decision to not release it in theatres.

Talking to the portal, Manish revealed Kartik, who has stepped into the shoes of Allu Arjun in Shehzada, had threatened to walk out of the film if Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo's Hindi version released in theatres. "The makers of Shehzada were not keen to release the Hindi version in cinemas. Also, Kartik Aaryan said if the movie was released in theatres, he would walk out of the film, which would have caused Shehzada producers a loss of Rs 40 crores. It was extremely unprofessional of him," Manish told.

In a joint statement, Manish's Goldmine Films and the producers of Shehzada said, "Manish Shah promoter of Goldmines along with the makers of Shehzada have jointly decided to withdraw the theatrical release of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo Hindi version. Shehzada makers are thankful to Manish Shah for agreeing to the same."

Shehzada, directed by Rohit Dhawan and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Allu Aravind, Aman Gill and S Radha Krishna, will release in theatres on November 4, 2022. Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo's Hindi version will now release only on the TV channel, Dhinchaak.
