Mouni Roy tied the knot with her longtime beau Suraj Nambiar in Goa on Thursday. The couple got married according to Malayali rituals first and later in the evening, their Bengali wedding took place. Pictures and videos from Mouni and Suraj's grand Bengali wedding went viral on social media.
As per the rituals, Mouni, who hails from Cooch Behar in West Bengal, made a bridal entry on a Peedi (wooden plank) hiding her face with paan pata (betel leaves). The actress's brother Mukhar Roy along with Rahul Shetty, Pratik Utekarand Manmeet of Meet Brothers carried her to the mandap. Mouni looked scared as she made her bridal entry and it seems she feared falling off the Peedi. According to the tradition, the bride is taken around the groom in seven circles, but in a video, Mouni told everyone that just one turn around the mandap was enough.
For the Bengali wedding, Mouni wore a red Sabyasachi lehenga with a customised veil that read, "Ayushmati Bhava". She teamed the outfit with a matha patti, nath, choker, earrings and bangles. Suraj wore a sherwani.
