Sanjay Leela Bhansali's much anticipated film Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt is all set to hit the screens next month. The film, which is all set to have its much awaited world premiere at the prestigious 72nd Berlin International Film Festival, will release theatrically. The film, which also stars Ajay Devgn is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Dr. Jayantilal Gada (Pen Studios). Gangubai Kathiawdi is all set to release theatrically on February 25, 2022.
The big announcement was made this morning. The film was earlier all set to release on february 18, however, it got delayed by a week. Gangubai Kathiawadi has been chosen to be screened as part of Berlinale Special, a segment of the film festival which is dedicated to showcase exemplary cinema. This year’s selections are films that have been shot during the pandemic.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is Alia's first film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film also stars Ajay as a mobster, who eventually falls in love with Gangubai while teaching her the tricks of the trade. In the crime drama, Gangubai is featured as a sex worker who later emerges as an underworld don in Mumbai.
For the unversed, the story of Gangubai has been adapted from one of the chapters of Hussain Zaidi’s book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai.
