Mahendra Singh Dhoni wowed his fans on the field with his unmatched cricketing skills. Now, the former Indian national cricket team's captain has ventured into showbiz. Under his production banner, Dhoni Entertainment, he has been working on a graphic novel titled Atharva: The Origin. Based on author Ramesh Thamilmani’s unpublished work, it is said to be a new age mythological sci-fi web series.
The first look of Dhoni in and as Atharva was shared by the cricketer on his Facebook profile. The video begins with Dhoni's animated avatar on a battlefield. Later, his look as the titular character is unveiled while his army fights against demons. Flaunting dreadlocks and chiselled abs, the former cricketer has donned a completely new look for the project.
Atharva: The Origin was announced in 2020. The cricketer's wife Sakshi Dhoni, who serves as the managing director of the production house, told in a statement, "We have acquired the rights of an unpublished book of a debutant author. We will adapt it into a web series. It is a mythological sci-fi story that explores the journey of a mysterious Aghori and is set at a high-tech facility on a remote island."
In 2020, Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket.
