Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi trailer was released on February 4. Starring Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa and others, the trailer was lauded by critics, audience and celebrities. While Alia's performance as the feisty brothel madam stood out, it was Vijay who took everyone by surprise. The actor will be seen in the role of Gangubai's rival, Raziabai.
Sharing stills from Gangubai Kathiawadi's trailer, one user wrote, "Trailer was going strong and then this guy appears and steal the show from everyone." Amid all the praise and appreciation, there were people who were not happy with a cis-gender playing the role of a transgender. One person said, "Loved #GangubaiKathiawadiTrailer and it look very promising but then again another CIS male is playing a trans role.
