Katrina Kaif took to social media today to give an update about her upcoming film Merry Christmas opposite Vijay Sethupathi. She shared a picture of the clapboard as she resumed shooting for the film. Merry Christmas is helmed by Sriram Raghavan. This is the first time that Katrina and Vijay will be sharing screen space together.
Katrina took to Instagram and shared the picture without any caption or emoji. However, the clapboard rested on what looked like the cover of the music of Gregory Peck’s iconic film Mackenna’s Gold; no reference was given about the use of the music score and the vinyl tape that could be seen beside the cover and the clapboard.
The actress had announced the film soon after her wedding with Vicky Kaushal last year in December. She shared the picture with Vijay and other team members and wrote, "New Beginnings. BACK ON SET with director #sriramraghavan for Merry Christmas! I’ve always wanted to work with Sriram Sir, He is a master when it comes to narratives that showcase thrillers and it's an honor to be directed by him. . Super excited to be teaming up with @actorvijaysethupathi for this one produced by @rameshtaurani & @sanjayroutraymatchbox."
Recently, producer Ramesh Taurani had spoken about bringing Katrina and Vijay together for the first time. He told a leading tabloid, “Vijay suited the role perfectly so we approached him for this film. He is a fantastic actor and a big name down South. Katrina was always our only choice for the role right from the beginning."
Merry Christmas is bankrolled by Ramesh Taurani’s Tips Industries in association with Sanjay Routray's Matchbox Pictures Pvt. Ltd. It is likely to release on December 23, 2022 and is touted to be a thriller.
