Do you know Oscars 2022's Best Picture CODA and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Khamoshi: The Musical have THIS thing in common?

At the 94th Academy Awards, held on Sunday, Sian Heder's film CODA (Child Of Deaf Adults) won the Best Picture Award. It is said to be the English remake of the 2014 French film La Famille Bélier. Starring Emilia Jones, Troy Kotsur, Daniel Durant, Marlee Matlin, Eugenio Derbez, and Ferdia Walsh-Peelo among others, CODA revolves around Ruby Rossi who is the only hearing member of her family. Her parents, Frank and Jackie, and older brother, Leo, are deaf.

While the film is a remake, CODA's story is quite similar to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Khamoshi: The Musical which released in 1996. The Manisha Koirala, Nana Patekar & Salman Khan starrer is said to be the remake of the German film Beyond Silence. However, the claim is arguable as Khamoshi released in August 1996 whereas Beyond Silence came in December 1996.

It is noticed that CODA, just like Khamoshi, focuses on a girl, who pursues music. That's when the protagonists in both films meet their partners. It seems Bollywood is inspiring stories across the globe.
