John Abraham is currently promoting his upcoming film Attack with Rakul Preet Singh and Jacqueline Fernandez. The action adventure has John playing a super soldier in the film. However, during a recent interview with a YouTube channel, John pointed out that Attack director Lakshya Raj Anand gets hyper about marketing the film and said that being on The Kapil Sharma Show does not ensure ticket sales taking the example of Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files raking in the moolah at the box office.
During the interview, John was accompanied by director Lakshya Raj Anand and music director Shaswant Sachdev. Earlier, in a media gathering John had abstained from commenting on The Kashmir Files controversy where Agnihotri had alleged that The Kapil Sharma Show team did not invite him and his crew on the show because his film didn't have stars, but now he said, “Lakshya took me to Kapil's show, saying ‘I want you to be on Kapil Sharma’. I like Kapil, he’s a nice boy, but it doesn’t translate to ticket sales.”
The actor said that he does not believe in item numbers to make a film work and also spoke about how he made a sequel to a successful franchise, but the second part was absolutely the opposite of the first one. He said, “I had a franchise that worked, and I belted out something that was just the opposite for the second part. Why did I do it? Because I succumbed to the diktats of commercialism. And because it was a part two, I said, ‘Hey, listen…’ And if you see all the part twos that are releasing now, it’s like…”
He further said, "I’m not trying to hard-sell this film. I have no qualms about being ripped apart for something I’ve done badly. The fact of the matter is, if you don’t call a spade a spade, you’re going to be stuck.” John was last seen in Satyameva Jayate 2.
