On June 15, 2021, PeepingMoon exclusively informed its readers that Ayushmann Khurrana is collaborating with Aanand L Rai once again after the success of their social comedy film series, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan. Ayushmann's next with Aanand L Rai is a big-scale action film set in overseas. The film has interestingly been titled 'Action Hero' and will mark Ayushmann's foray into the action genre. Furthermore, Paatal Lok actor Jaideep Ahlawat has been roped in to play the antagonist in this film.
Now, 'hero' Ayushmann has made an official announcement of the film's release date along with an interesting poster. Sharing the release date as December 2, 2022, Ayushmann wrote on Instagram, "Stay in the blur till 2nd of December 2022."
Anirudh Iyer Ganapathy is directing the film. Anirudh has been Aanand L Rai's assistant on his films Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015) and Zero (2018) and will be making his directorial debut with this film.
Ayushmann has a stellar lineup of films in 2022. He will be next seen in Anubhav Sinha’s Anek which releases on May 27, Anubhuti Kashyap’s Doctor G along with Aanand L. Rai’s Action Hero.
