‘Why do you dub your films in Hindi?’ Ajay Devgn reacts to Kichcha Sudeep’s comment ‘Hindi is not our national language’

Ajay Devgn has taken on Kichcha Sudeep’s statement on Hindi and the language not being our ‘national language’. The latter had kicked off the national language debate once again when he spoke about the raging success of Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2. He had said at the launch event of a film that 'Hindi is no more a national language’. Now, Ajay has reacted to the same and expressed his opinion in a tweet with a barbed question directed at the South Indian actor. In a tweet, Ajay tagged Sudeep and asked that if Hindi is no more a national language then why are films of his mother tongue dubbed in Hindi and released at the box office.

Ajay wrote, "@KicchaSudeep my brother, According to you if Hindi is not our national language then why do you release your mother tongue movies by dubbing them in Hindi? Hindi was, is and always will be our mother tongue and national language. Jan Gan Man."

Sudeep at an event had spoken about Bollywood doing pan-India films today and had said, “You said that a pan India film was made in Kannada. I’d like to make a small correction. Hindi is no more a national language. They (Bollywood) are doing pan-India films today. They are struggling (to find success) by dubbing in Telugu and Tamil, but it’s not happening. Today we are making films that are going everywhere.” Sudeep was speaking in context of films such as RRR and KGF: Chapter 2 doing roaring business in Hindi-speaking belt.

Irrespective of Ajay’s rare reactionary comment, Hindi is not our national language as India does not have a National Language but it is recognised as the official language of the Union Government in all its workings along with English. Hindi in Devanagari script is the official language of the Union.
