Akshay Kumar, who was all set to represent India at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, might not be able to make it. The Bollywood superstar, on Saturday night, informed on social media that he has contracted COVID-19, once again. He further confirmed that he won't be walking the red carpet this year at the Cannes Film Festival.
Akshay tweeted, "Was really looking forward to rooting for our cinema at the India Pavilion at #Cannes2022, but have sadly tested positive for Covid. Will rest it out. Loads of best wishes to you and your entire team, @ianuragthakur. Will really miss being there."

Akshay, along with Indian celebrities AR Rahman, Shekhar Kapur, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pooja Hegde, Nayanthara, Tamannaah Bhatia and Vani Tripathi, Rickey Kej, and Prasoon Joshi, was invited to the Cannes Film Festival to be a part of Marche Du Films, also called Cannes Film Market.
A few days ago, India was announced as the official country of honour at the Marche Du Films and it is held on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival. The superstar was supposed to make an appearance on the red carpet on the opening day of the film festival.
Akshay tested COVID-19 positive in April 2021. As a precautionary measure, the superstar was hospitalised. On the work front, Akshay's film Prithviraj is releasing in theatres on June 3.
