During the event she said that she believes there will be a day when Cannes will be in India.

During the inauguration of the India Pavilion, Deepika said, “India is at the cusp of greatness, this is just the beginning...there will come a day I truly believe where India won't have to be at Cannes, but Cannes will be in India.” She also danced on Ghoomar with the other actresses as Mame Khan sang the Rajasthani folk number.

On the other hand, R Madhavan’s directorial debut Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is making its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and the actor is also representing the country on the prestigious platform. He said, “I cannot begin to explain the amount of nervousness I feel. The only thing that gets me through that thought is the fact that I go back to remember why I started this journey. It is because all of us heard a story we really wanted to say, a story about a man whose achievements moved us and the world didn’t know about. That being the only truth and strength that I have today.” Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is based on the life of former Indian scientist and aerospace engineer Nambi Narayan who was falsely accused of treason.

Tamannaah Bhatia, who made her debut at the Cannes Film Festival this year called Deepika and inspiration and said, “It is my debut at the Cannes Film Festival, so I am super super excited. I think some of the most beautiful opportunities in life have come when I am not prepared for them. Be it a film like Baahubali, which changed the way films are viewed in India today. It opened the window for Pan India films. India has contributed so much to cinema and, after 75 years, this collaboration is really iconic. Deepika being part of the jury makes me proud; you’re an inspiration for actors like me.”

AR Rahman and Nawazuddin Siddiqui were also present at the inauguration and spoke about the diverse stories Indian cinema has to offer to the world. Rahman is all set to make his directorial debut with Le Musk at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.
