Singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, fondly known as KK left the music and film industry as well as the millions of fans in an utter state of shock and disbelief with his untimely passing. Bollywood’s most-adored playback singer, left the mortal world for a heavenly abode on Tuesday, May 31, after performing in his last show at Nazrul Manch in South Kolkata. He was 53.
Moments after the news, the music fraternity grieved the untimely loss of this gem and offered heartfelt condolences. Singer and music composer Anu Malik expressed his grief on Twitter. “Shattered beyond words! Gone too soon brother! There never was anyone like you and there never will be! #RIPKK #KK,” he tweeted.

Mourning the departed singer Shreya Ghoshal wrote, “One of the most humble, gentle, pure human being I have met in my life. God’s dear child was sent to spread love in the lives of millions of fans, friends and colleagues. Now God needed him back? So soon?! Cruel!! Can’t imagine what his family is going through. Acclaimed singer, former Union minister and recently elected Trinamool Congress MLA Babul Supriyo wrote, “One of the nicest guys the Music Industry ever had ... Pakistani singer Ali Zafar expressed the feelings of millions when he took to social media to share his condolences: "Shocked by the passing of two amazing artists @iSidhuMooseWala and @K_K_Pal. Singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya too paid a heartfelt tribute to KK. “Extremely shocking to hear this, we have lost a gem, a legend, will miss you and your voice bro, RIP #kk,” read his Instagram caption.
Sharing one of KK’s videos on his Instagram story, singer Sonu Nigam wrote, “KK, mere bhai, not done.”

‘Shocked and shattered’ Shael Oswal termed KK’s demise as a ‘personal loss.’ “Shocked and shattered, this feels so personal & devastating. KK was not only a great singer but a great human too. You were a great inspiration, a great friend, a humble and a kind man. When I had just started out professionaly, I remember meeting you and telling you how much I loved Pal, and how you inspired me to pursue melodies. It was always precious meeting you subsequently which blossomed into a beautiful relationship. Music company T-Series also offered its heartfelt condolences. “The man with the golden voice. Heartbreaking! A singing Maestro, you will truly be missed. Rest in peace, #KK,” read its tweet.

Singer Harshdeep Kaur also grieved at the loss of the music legend. “Just can’t believe that our beloved #KK is no more. This really can’t be true. The voice of love has gone. This is heartbreaking,” she tweeted.
