Mithali Raj, who became India's most successful captain in Women's Cricket, opened the gates to multiple opportunities and inspired many young girls in her 23 years long career. Rightfully, her story of hard work, fame and success will be documented in the upcoming film titled Shabaash Mithu. Headlined by Taapsee Pannu, the sports biopic is directed by Srijit Mukherji.
The trailer of Shabaash Mithu was released today. It takes us into Mithali's (Taapsee) life. From battling patriarchy, and exploring the world of cricket to creating an identity for herself in cricket which is known to be a 'Gentleman’s Game', Mithali does it all as she climbs the ladder of success one step at a time.
Shabaash Mithu also stars Vijay Raaz. Priya Aven is the writer of the film whereas Viacom18 Studios is producing it. Shabaash Mithu will be releasing in theatres on July 15. The film's release comes right after Mithali's retirement from international cricket.
Mithali, in June, announced her decision to retire from international cricket. In a statement, she wrote, "Today is the day I retire from all forms of international cricket. I feel now is the perfect time to call curtains on my playing career as the team is in capable hands of some very talented young players and the future of Indian cricket is bright. Thank you for all your love & support over the years! I look forward to my 2nd innings with your blessing and support."
Taapsee reacted to the same and wrote, "Thank you is all we can say for putting womens cricket on the map for this cricket crazy nation!"
