NRI filmmaker Leena Manimekalai launched the poster of her documentary Kaali. The poster featured the Hindu Goddess smoking and holding an LGBTQ flag. The first look of the documentary didn't go down well with a certain section of people.
A section of people slammed Leena for insulting the Hindu community and demanded an unconditional apology from the filmmaker. Some people even demanded the arrest of Leena citing she had hurt religious sentiments.

Hitting back at trolls, Leena wrote in Tamil on Twitter, "I have nothing to lose. Till the time I live, I wish to live with a voice that speaks what I believe without fear. If the price for that is my life, it can be given."

On Saturday, Leena shared the poster and said Kaali was part of the 'Rhythms of Canada' segment at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto. She further requested people to watch the film to understand the context behind the poster.
As per reports, a special cell of the Delhi Police has filed an FIR against Leena for portraying a Hindu Goddess smoking a cigarette on her film's poster. The FIR has been filed under Sec 153 A and 295 A of IPC. Reportedly, the UP police too registered an FIR on charges of criminal conspiracy, offense in place of worship, deliberately hurting religious sentiments, and intention to provoke breach of peace against Leena for the disrespectful depiction of Hindu Gods in Kaali's poster.
