Rumours are rife that Deepika Padukone has been cast to play the role of Parvati in Brahmastra 2. Reportedly, the actress will feature in the trilogy's upcoming first part but in a cameo. Now, dismissing the rumours, Ayan Mukerji, the director of Brahmastra, hinted that the casting process for the second installment is yet to begin. Talking to a radio channel, he said the story doesn't require the character of Parvati.
"It (Deepika Padukone's role) is a good suggestion for part 2 and we will think about it. Brahmastra is not really about Lord Shiva. Ranbir's character is called Shiva in the film. My own inspiration and the greatest hero is Shiv Bhagwan so there is a lot of that inspiration and love that I have put in my own way into the film and Ranbir's character. So, there is no role of Parvati in Brahmastra's trilogy. To some extent, Isha (Alia Bhatt's character) is really (character) Shiva's Parvati," Ayan told in the interview.
Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in a cameo in Brahmastra, which is releasing on September 9 this year. It is still unclear whether the superstar will have a lead role in the future parts of the franchise. Not much about his cameo is known to fans.
Produced by Star Studios, Dharma Productions, Prime Focus, and Starlight Pictures, Brahmastra will release theatrically in 5 Indian languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada with a stellar ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni.
