On October 2, 2021, Tollywood's 'It' couple and Internet favourites Samantha Prabhu Akkineni (now Samantha Ruth Prabhu) and Naga Chaitanya shook up the news cycle by choosing to announce their break-up, ending weeks of suspense and speculation over the status of their marriage.
Now, Chaitnya has talked about his tattoo related to his ex-wife Samantha. The actor revealed that his tattoo, which is a morse code, carries his and Samantha's wedding date. He also noted that he has not considered removing the tattoo after their separation. Chaitanya spoke about his tattoo as he narrated his crazy fan encounters. The actor said, “I met a few fans who've tattooed like my name and all that and they've imitated this tattoo (gesturing to his forearm). This is not something you would want to imitate. It's the day I got married. So I won't want the fans to put that. I feel really bad when they tattoo these things. It's like 'don't, things might just change. I can change the tattoo'.”
Asked if he has actually thought about changing the tattoo, the actor said, "No I haven't thought about it, it's fine." He was also asked what he would do if he runs into ex-wife Samantha today, and he replied, "Say hi, give her a hug."
Even Samantha has 2 Naga Chaitanya-related tattoos. One is the YMC tattoo on her back. These are the initials of her first movie, Ye Maaya Chesave. The film released in 2010 and also starred her ex-husband Naga. The second tattoo is on the right side of her ribs, the word Chay written in cursive. Chay is the nickname of Naga Chaitanya.
Samantha and Chaitanya announced their separation in October. In their statements, they had said, “To all our well-wishers. After much deliberation and thought (we) have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths."
