Akshay Kumar, at the trailer launch of his upcoming film Disney Plus Hotstar Cuttputlli, spoke about the box office response of his recent films being disappointing. When asked about Hindi films not working in theatres and OTT being a safe space now, Akshay said that it is his fault and no one else is to be blamed.
He said, "If films are not working then it's our fault, it is my fault. I have to make the changes, I have to understand what the audience wants. I want to do my changes. I want to dismantle my way and think about what kind of films I have to make. So no one else should be blamed but me."
When asked if the webspace is a safe space for makers, Akshay said, "OTT is not a safe space, it is not a safety net. This also requires people to say that, 'yes, we like the film'. The people are watching it, the media is watching it, the critics are watching it and they give their opinion on whether or not they like it. You just have to work hard, period."
On the work front, Akshay will be next seen in Ranjit M Tewari's Cuttputlli.
