For the first time, Ananya Panday and Vijay Deverakonda have teamed up for a massy, commercial pan-India film. Titled Liger, the actors are paired with each other as lovers. While Ananya seems to be the perfect match for the role, there were speculations that Janhvi Kapoor was the original choice for Liger. In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon.com, Ananya reacted to those speculations.
Ananya told us, "We never discussed this and I wasn't fully aware. I am grateful that I got to do the film. The script was 'love at first read' when I heard it. I listened to the script on January 1 or 2; for me, it was like starting the year on the right note."
During a media interaction, Liger's director Puri Jagannadh also confirmed approaching Janhvi for the film. He told, " am a big fan of Sridevi. I wanted to cast Janhvi Kapoor but her dates weren't available." The filmmaker also revealed that it was producer Karan Johar's suggestion to cast Ananya after things with Janhvi didn't materialise.
Liger, jointly produced by Puri Jagannadh, Karan Johar and Charmme Kaur, will release on August 25.
