Ranbir Kapoor apologises for his 'phailod' comment on wife Alia Bhatt's pregnancy weight gain, says 'it wasn't my intention'

Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Ayan Mukerji have kickstarted the promotions of their upcoming film Brahmastra. On Wednesday, the team of Brahmastra arrived in Chennai for a meet and greet session with the media. Ranbir joined Nagarjuna Akkineni and SS Rajamouli in Chennai for the promotions.

During an interaction with the press, Ranbir was asked about being trolled for his comment on wife Alia's pregnancy weight gain. Apologising for offending a section of people with his remark, the actor said, "Firstly, I love my wife with everything I have in my life. It's a joke that didn't turn out to be funny. It wasn't my intention. I spoke to Alia about it later and she laughed it off. My sense of humour falls flat on my face sometimes. I apologise to those who got offended by it."

Recently, when Ranbir, Alia and Ayan hosted a YouTube live session for Brahmastra promotions, the actress said, "We will promote the film, and we will be everywhere, but if the question you are asking is why we are not phailod everywhere, right now our focus is..." Interrupting Alia, Ranbir pointed at her baby bump and said, "Well I can say somebody has phailod." Alia was taken aback and Ranbir immediately said, "It's a joke." He then added, "in a cute way."

Brahmastra is Ranbir and Alia's first film together. It will release on September 9.
