Kiara Advani, who is touted to be the golden girl of Bollywood at present, made people sit up and take notice of her talent by playing the central role in Karan Johar's short film in Lust Stories. Though she had films like Fugly, M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story and Machine to her filmography, the Netflix anthology made her one of the most sought-after names.
While Kiara's career escalated with Lust Stories, did you know she wasn't the first choice for the role of Megha? In the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 7, host-filmmaker Karan Johar revealed the short film was offered to Kriti Sanon. However, her mother didn't allow her to say yes to the role of a sexually dissatisfied wife. "I had offered it to Kriti Sanon, the role… and she said that her mom didn’t allow her," Karan told.
The filmmaker further added, "I thought everybody’s mom would stand in line, not allowing their daughters. It’s actually a very empowering story. It’s about a woman’s right to pleasure. So I met Kiara at Manish Malhotra’s house, and I just saw her, I knew her of course, I knew her as Alia Advani then… So I met her and I asked, ‘Can you come tomorrow and meet me, it’s for a short film.’ She came and she heard it and then she was a little zoned out." Kiara then said, "I have to say that when I signed the film, it was only to work with Karan Johar."
Kiara then went on to work with Karan by signing films like Kalank, Good Newwz, Guilty, Shershaah and Jug Jugg Jeeyo.
