It's been nine years since Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur shook the box office with their blockbuster film Aashiqui 2. Now, the makers of the franchise are taking it to the next stage with yet another sequel. Yes, you got it right! Aashiqui 3 is indeed happening.
Today, Aashiqui 3 was announced by the makers. It will be directed by Anurag Basu and the male lead in the film is Kartik Aaryan. The female protagonist is yet to be locked. Pritam will be composing the music for Aashiqui 3 which goes on floors mid-next year. Aashiqui 3 will be produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series along with Mukesh Bhatt's Vishesh Films. The release date is yet to be announced.

Aashiqui, starring Anu Aggarwal, Rahul Roy and Deepak Tijori, released in 1990 and was a huge box office and critical success. The first installment of the franchise was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. It was known for its songs composed by Nadeem-Shravan.
Aashiqui 2, directed by Mohit Suri, was also successful. It was said to be a remake of the Hollywood film A Star Is Born (1937). Like its predecessor, Aashiqui 2's music was immensely popular among the youth.
