Excerpts from the interview:
Your song Chaand Baaliyan has become a huge internet sensation, how does it feel to garner such love and popularity for it after two years of its release?
It feels amazing the kind of love and popularity I have received, I hope I get the same amount of love and praise for Right Wali Paayal and my next song.
Your latest song Right Wali Payal has been released and it is as breezy and heartwarming as your previous number. How did you embark on this concept?
I try to keep my music in the easy listening zone so that people can have fun and have a smile on their faces, that’s my intention. The song happened, like my wife and I were on a vacation and she lost one of her payal so I got the idea from there so I wrote the song during the vacation and composed it much later.
How was it working with Saiwariya?
Saiwariya is a great artist and we’ve done a few songs before as well and it is always great fun to work with her. She has no hassles, I call her and she comes and she is very easy to work with that’s what’s great about her.

The video for Right Wali Payal is extremely cute, did you have any say in the concept?
Actually both Shivam Sharma my director and I worked together on the video but the production part was managed by him alone and we had fun shooting the video in Dharamsala and Mcleodganj.
Is there any musician or singer you would love to collaborate with in the near future? Do you idolize anyone?
I admire a lot of musicians like Pritam Da, Amit Trivedi, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, AR Rahman and I would love to sing for any one of them. I would love to compose for Arijit Singh as he is my favourite singer.
Does Bollywood feature in your scope of things? What are your future projects?
I hope I feature in Bollywood’s scope of things (laughs). I’ve done a film before called Second Marriage in 2012 so I’m open to all kinds of project as a playback or a composer. I’m working on a few tracks right now but I don’t know which will come out first, I’m trying to shuffle a bit between projects currently.
