Ever since Kartik Aaryan's Aashiqui 3 was announced, fans have been keen on knowing the leading lady of the film who will recreate the franchise's magic with the current heartthrob of the industry. While the makers are yet to confirm the name of the leading lady, there were rumours that Jennifer Winget would most likely bag the role.
Now, dismissing rumours of signing Jennifer, the makers of Aashiqui 3 said in a statement, "There is no truth to any rumours pertaining to the female lead opposite Kartik Aaryan in ‘Aashiqui 3.’ The search for the perfect fit for the movie is still ongoing. We are currently in a very early stage where we are still coming up with ideas for the movie. Much like the audience, we are eagerly awaiting to finalise the female lead of the film and would love to share it with the fans as early as possible."
Anurag Basu, the director of Aashiqui 3, told an entertainment portal, "Well, I’ve been also hearing about these rumours. However, honestly, we’re currently at a very nascent stage. We’re currently ideating about various other aspects of film-making. Casting will be locked later on."
In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon.com, Aashiqui actress Anu Aggarwal reacted to the third installment of the franchise. She also said if she is offered a role in the film, she would love to do it. "I am an actor and I was a part of creating the blockbuster and revolutionary Aashiqui so why not? If the role offered interests me, makes an impact on the general storyline, increases the USP of the project or is a way to bring across positive change and awareness, I may just do it," Anu shared.
