Love Is Light & the audience proved it. Ayan Mukerji's directorial Brahmastra is leading Bollywood to a brighter side after a dull phase at the box office. Joining hands with Dharma Productions once again, he brought his vision to life. Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Mouni Roy, Brahmastra is Ayan's third film as a director. Coincidentally, he struck with a hattrick of blockbusters with the production house owned by Karan Johar.
Ayan's collaboration with Dharma Productions has always paved a path that led Indian cinema to a new milestone. His directorial debut Wake Up Sid was a delightful affair and managed to sweep away maximum awards in 2019.
Four years later, Ayan gave a new definition and flavour to the genre-blending cinema with Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Casting Ranbir once again in his directorial, he set the benchmark high while being associated with Dharma Productions. Showing immense growth, Ayan made this coming-of-age film the talk of the town. Touching everyone's hearts with Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, he proved once again that he is a filmmaker with the potential to think beyond the obvious.
Nine years after Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ayan's Brahmastra Part One: Shiva debuted on the silver screen. Creating his own Astraverse, the directorial opened up several possibilities in terms of storytelling, visual effects and a new age cinema that shall give competition to Hollywood's Marvel Cinematic Universe. His vision and belief in telling a desi and culturally rooted fantasy were backed by Karan, despite multiple delays.
After exploring something as creative, humongous and solid as Brahmastra, Dharma Productions and Ayan are all set to dive deep into the second part of the franchise titled Brahmastra Part Two: Dev. With ample fan theories floating around, it will be interesting to see what's in store. Not to forget, they are making Brahmastra Part Three. A spin-off film based on Shah Rukh Khan's Vanarastra might be planned soon.
