Tiger Shroff is well-known for his exceptional martial arts skills but the actor’s only tryst with superhero films has been the box office debacle A Flying Jatt. However, that has not deterred his enthusiasm for the superhero genre and he recently revealed that he auditioned for Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man. In his own words, Tiger said that he came ‘quite close’ to playing the popular superhero.
In an interview with ConnectFM Canada, Tiger revealed that he had once auditioned for Spider-Man and had even sent his tapes to the producers. He said, “I had auditioned for Spider-Man. I had sent them my tapes also, my showreel. They were quite impressed as to what I could do. My pitch to them was ‘I’d save you a lot of money on VFX because I can do most of what Spider-Man can do’.”
While, Tiger did not clarify when this was, the only time Spider-Man’s role was cast since his debut was in 2015 when Tom Holland clinched the superhero part. He debuted as MCU’s Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War the following year and has been part of three solo Spider-Man films as well as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Tiger revealed that he almost got the role and said, “I was quite close to being a part of that.” Tiger later voiced the part in the Hindi dub of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017).
Over the years, Spider-Man has been played by Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland in three different film series, since 2002. The three actors came together for the last Spider-Man film Spider-Man: No Way Home that released last year. Apparently, there is an Indian version of Spider-Man in Marvel Comics but no one has portrayed him on screen.
