Salman Khan gets Y+ security after receiving death threats from Lawrence Bishnoi gang; Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher receive X+security

Salman Khan’s security has been beefed up by the Maharashtra government as per a report. The actor has been given Y-plus security on the basis of intelligence inputs from the central and state government. Apart from Salman, the security of Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher has also been increased. While Salman has been given Y+ security in lieu of death threats received from Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, Akshay and Anupam have been given x-category security. The cost of this additional security will be covered by the actors themselves.

Thew news comes months after, Salman’s father and noted screenwriter Salim Khan received a threat letter mentioning plans to kill his actor-son while on a morning walk at the Bandra band stand. The letter threatened to do a ‘Moosewala’ to Salman in reference to the murder of the Punjabi singer earlier this year. Following this, the Mumbai Police arrested several gangsters from the Bishnoi gang who confessed on targeting Salman.

In August, the Mumbai Police issued a gun license to Salman who had applied for the same citing death threats from the gangsters. He was accorded normal security up till now but will now be given Y+ security cover meaning that he will have four armed security guards in shifts protecting him. On the other hand, Akshay and Anupam will have three security guards protecting them at all times.

Investigations in Mumbai, Punjab and Delhi in the last few months have revealed that Lawrence Bishnoi gang members and Goldy Brar gang members had planned to kill Salman in Mumbai. Reports suggested that they have tried to kill him twice, once outside his Bandra residence during his birthday celebrations in 2017 and once at his Panvel farmhouse in 2018. Anupam was given the security after he received threats post his film The Kashmir Files whereas Akshay was granted security based on social media threats over his nationality.
