Prabhas, Kriti Sanon & Saif Ali Khan's Adipurush to now release on June 16, 2023, director Om Raut says 'need more time to give complete visual experience to viewers'

Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan's magnum opus Adipurush is out of Sankranti 2023 race. The film directed by Om Raut will no longer release on January 12 next year. It has been postponed by almost five months now. The makers of Adipurush announced the new release date with a statement. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on June 16, 2023.

In the statement, the makers wrote, "Adipurush is not a film, but a representation of our devotion to Prabhu Shri Ram and commitment towards our sanskriti and history. In order to give a complete visual experience to the viewers, we need to give more time to the teams working on the film. Adipurush will now release on June 16, 2023. We are committed to make a film that India will be proud of. Your support, love and blessings is what keeps us going."

Adipurush's teaser was launched at a grand event in Ayodhya on October 2. However, the teaser was criticised for poor VFX quality and bad editing. There were rumours that Prabhas was unhappy with Om after gauging the response at the launch event. However, it was untrue.

Om reacted to the response Adipurush's teaser received. He said, "I was disheartened for sure, not surprised because the film is made for a larger medium—the big screen. You can cut it down to some extent but can’t bring it down to a mobile phone. That’s an environment I can’t control. Given a choice, I’d never put it on YouTube but that’s the need of the hour. We need to put it there so that it reaches a wide audience."

Adipurush is produced by T-series and Retrophiles. It will release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
