Navya Naveli Nanda reacts to Jaya Bachchan’s comment on having ‘child without marriage’ being criticised, says 'People may agree or disagree'

Navya Naveli Nanda's podcast titled What The Hell Navya is garnering attention. Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan and Navya's mother Shweta Bachchan Nanda address important topics on the podcast with the young entrepreneur. In the recent podcast episode, Jaya said she will have no problem if Navya has a child without marriage. This statement sparked a controversy on social media. Now, in an interview with a news portal, Navya reacted to trolls and criticism for the episode.

She told, "I think, when you are putting yourself out there, whether it be podcast or work — and all of us are on social media so everybody is watching you — I think that when you are putting yourself out there, you have to understand that something that you are sharing with the world, your opinions, people may agree, people may disagree. I think that the purity and motivation behind this podcast was to have really nice, fun, intelligent conversations and I think we were able to do that. I am grateful for all the love and support."

She further added, "I think the whole point of this podcast was to create a safe space for women and I think we were able to do that. I felt confident enough and comfortable enough to talk to them about anything like relationships, friendships."

In the podcast, Jaya had told, "People will find it objectionable coming from me but physical attraction and compatibility are also very important. Our times we couldn't experiment but today the generation does and why shouldn't they? Because that also is responsible for a long-lasting relationship. If there isn't a physical relationship it's not going to last very long. You can't be lasting on love and fresh air and adjustment, I feel. It's very very important."

She also said, "I'm looking at it very clinically. Since there's a lack of that emotion, the romance today...I think you should marry your best friend. You should have a good friend, you should discuss and say, ‘Maybe I'd like to have a child with you because I like you, I think you're nice, so let's get married because that's what society's saying'. I have no problem if you have a child without a marriage also, I really don't have a problem."
