Bollywood’s reigning new age superstar Kartik Aaryan has spoken about the south vs Bollywood films debate. The Hindi film industry has faced insistent trolling and backlash ever since the pandemic ended for not making good films as compared to the films rolling out from the southern film industry. However, Kartik, who is busy promoting his upcoming film Freddy and has had a blockbuster hit this year with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 said that the debate should not be over “north vs south”, but rather over good films working in theatres.
Kartik, while talking to an online portal weighed in on the debate and said, “It’s all about good films working. It’s an Indian film which works or does not work. This discussion has been going on for a long time and now the lines have become blurred. Drishyam 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 did great numbers."

The actor objected to people only talking about the ‘four’ (RRR, KGF: Chapter 2, Kantara, Ponniyin Selvan 1) films that worked. He added, "They do not talk about the films that do not work, but in this North vs South, they highlight only those that worked. Chaar filmein hongi jo chali hongi actual mein.. (there must be only four films that would have worked), but they highlight as if it’s a race going on."
For the unversed, the list of this year’s blockbuster movies include names like SS Rajamouli’s RRR, Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2, Rishab Shetty’s Kantara, Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: I, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra, Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 2 and Kartik’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Kartik will next be seen in Freddy that also stars Alaya F and is slated to release on Disney+ Hotstar on December 2, 2022.
